Rabih Abou-Khalil & Joachim Kühn feat. Jarrod Cagwin (LIB, GER, GBR)

Rabih Abou-Khalil is going to present his latest project, "a sensitive and exquisite plunge into (new) jazz", with pianist Joachim Kühn and percussionist Jarrod Cagwin.

Rabih Abou-Khalil is a Lebanese lute player living in Germany.  He’s steadfast in linking traditional Arabic music with jazz and European classical music, and regularly collaborates with artists from these genres, such as Kronos Quartet, Kenny Wheeler, Steve Swallow, Balanescu Quartet and others.

This time, he’s going to present his latest project that many call a sensitive and exquisite plunge into (new) jazz. The project is based on the record Journey to the Centre of an Egg (Enja records). On his journey to the centre of an egg, he encountered one of the most important German jazz artists, the world-renowned piano player Joachim Kühn, who is about to turn 75 this year.

At Festival Lent, Rabih Abou-Khalil and Joachim Kühn, who will be playing the sax as well, will be accompanied by drummer Jarrod Cagwin, a long-standing colleague of Abou-Khalil’s.
